Adidas Blew Past Nike and Under Armour

This year, Adidas has surpassed Nike and Under Armour with stronger sneaker sales. Adidas captured the sneaker market share with its success with Stan Smith and Superstar collections.  In over a decade, this was the first time that Adidas knocked Nike from the top spot. The declining sale is forcing big store chains such as Finish Line to regroup because they depend on Nike for strong sales. As the trend changes, people are transitioning from athletic sneaker to fashionable sneakers to embrace a casual lifestyle. Also, social influencers like Kanye West, Jay Z and Alexander Wang have transformed the brand image to appeal to the masses. With continued success, Adidas is now expanding to take the market share in running sneakers.
